against Antrim's Aaron Griffin
Kildare hurlers took to field for the first time in the NHL to face Antrim last Sunday (28th) with some changes to their Kehoe Cup team. In came regular keeper Paul Dermody for the injured Damien Byrne, Paul Keegan also started his first came of the campaign at corner-back, while Lorcan Harney started instead of the injured Paddy Moloney.
Ardclough's goal-getter Martin Fitzgerald got another three pointer to help set Kildare up for a 1-05 to 0-07 point lead at the half-time break. Antrim started the second half in control but Kildare dragged themselves back into the game with a goal from the penalty spot by Richie Hoban. Antrim hit back however with a goal of their own just minutes later through Neil Manus and the Saffrons pushed on for their win from there.
Meanwhile Kildare's first round clash with Laois
has been re-fixed for Tuesday the 9th
March at 8.00pm in Portlaoise.
